The thermostat and control dampers in the freezer controls the overall temperature in the machine, both in normal and Frost Free models.
The thermostat determines the overall temperature of the freezer, and also is a primary component of the Frost Free heating/cooling cycle of the freezer. When a thermostat fails you may see high temperatures inside the fridge, excessive frosting, or defrosting. Fortunately, thermostats are easy to change for a competent DIY'er, but please consult a qualified engineer if in doubt.
The Control Damper ensures that the air circulating around the inside of the fridge or freezer is done so at an even and steady flow. Without this item, your freezer or fridge may experience hot or cold spots in certain areas. This is an electromechanical item and as such may be prone to breakage or faults.
